GibSams launched its Chatty Cafe Scheme on September 1st 2018 as part of its “Let’s get Gibraltar Talking” campaign.

A Chatter & Natter table is where customers can sit if they are happy to talk to other customers. The Chatty Café Scheme focuses on bringing people of all ages and from all walks of life together. We are looking for large and small cafes, supermarket cafes, community cafes and restaurants, to get involved and add to those establishments that are already involved so that we can continue to make the Chatter & Natter table a part of everyday Gibraltar culture.

A Chatter & Natter table brings people together, and everyone is invited! If you’re on your own, in a couple, with a friend, if you’re a carer, why not sit there with who you care for, mums and babies, dads and babies, grandparents and babies, young people, older people and anyone in between!

When you are feeling lonely, short interactions with another human being can really brighten your day. A Chatter & Natter table creates a space for people to talk, whether it is for five minutes while you have a drink or an hour of good conversation. We are not trying to build friendships – just simple interactions to combat loneliness or, maybe, have a big impact on someone’s day.

Many local establishments have already joined the GibSams Chatty Cafe Scheme. Participating establishments decide the day and time they are setting up a Chatter Natter table, which will have the poster we will provide them with clearly displayed on the table.

As lockdown restrictions in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic in Gibraltar have been eased, establishments are now in the process of making arrangements for the Chatty Cafe Service to resume once again. We will be listing the dates, times and venues on our Chatty Cafe Facebook page and the UK Chatty Cafe website so visitors to Gibraltar, who already know about the scheme, can know where to go.
